Recently, I was faced with a pile of dumped coleslaw.  I could’ve walked away and said, “That’s not the hostess’ responsibility.”

Instead, I got a mop and took care of it.

If hired, I would bring my positive attitude and willingness to help with any tasks to a PR job in the Philadelphia region. Before becoming a hostess at a diner, I worked as a journalist and gained skills such as:

  • Two years of experience in covering murder trials, property tax increases, and spelling bees for local newspapers.  I also interned with the business section of The USA Today and wrote a centerpiece about stores trying to prevent people from reselling large amounts of their products on eBay. On its day of publication, this article was the most read article on the Internet in the business section.
  • Basic Web design skills and knowledge of photography composition principles. Every week, I utilize these skills to post content on my blog Elleats.com, which chronicles my journey to find the best recipes and restaurants.
  • Ability to operate a coffee machine, to work nights and weekends and to meet deadlines.
